Living alone with TBI

Does anyone with TBI have trouble living independently?

Hey Cowboy,
I think I mentioned earlier I used to teach independant living skills to people with disabilities before my own health nose dived.

Living independently is a bit of a misnomer. None of us (well, very few) truly live independently. Whether that’s the postman to deliver our mail or the power company to supply your power, we all rely on someone. Some people need a bit more assistance than others and that’s OK. The key is identifying which areas you think you need assistance with. For example, I used to teach people how to use public transport. But there’s very little sense in teaching someone to use public transport if they have their own car. The assistance needs to meet your needs and that’s why I say you need to identify those areas you think you need assistance with.

Where do you see yourself needing assistance? What skills do you feel you could improve on? I may be able to give you a bit of direction to get things started in the right direction.

I am in no way saying ‘I have all of the answers’ because I’ll tell you now… I don’t. But in saying that, if I can help I am more than willing to assist. Please do let me if I can help.
